Fourth International Conference on Petloss and Bereavement
and Training Workshop in Petloss and Bereavement Counseling
May 30, 31 and June 1, 2008 (Friday through Sunday)
at the Hilton Hotel Conference Center, at Newark (NJ) Airport
Free shuttle bus service to and from the airport is provided by the hotel.
This unique and important conference is being designed to serve two distinct groups: pet owners and the professionals who serve them and the animals they love. We will be meeting with a wide variety of very special people. Included will be bereavement counselors, vets, their staffs, and shelter and other involved personnel. Presentations to include all of this are being planned. Also, on Friday, May 30, Dr. Wallace Sife will again be teaching our highly acclaimed 10-hour Workshop for pet bereavement counselors. Ten Continuing Education credits will be awarded, as well as the APLB Certificate of Training.
We are honored to have Dr. Susan Cohen, as our opening speaker. Everyone in pet bereavement circles knows of her and her achievements. She was a pioneer in this field, and created the very first petloss support group, ever. Dr. Cohen will also present at the conference on forming and running petloss support groups.
There will also be specialized panel discussions with attendee participation — to examine and enhance the application of ideas presented. In addition to all this we will have a special section for individual counseling, manned by our highly trained and experienced chatroom committee hosts and assistants. This unique conference is the perfect opportunity to meet the entire APLB staff and many other renowned experts in the field. There will be major news media coverage.
An impressive lineup of seminars and panels has been prepared. We will post the schedule and names of our presenters, soon.
