Pet Bereavement Support Groups: Ontario

The APLB is pleased to note that support groups are springing up all across the country. We ask all our friends to help us regularly update and expand this roster. Please send us the name of the group, and who is running it, along with a postal address and telephone number. If there is one, also include an e-mail address. The listing is free. These are our kind of people, and we honor and endorse their commitment and accomplishment.

If you would like to start a support group of your own, the APLB has special material and members to help you with that. We are all in the same lifeboat, together.

By providing this nationwide directory we are adding to our extensive support services. Please note that every group listed here is completely independent, with a very wide range of techniques and regulations — and that inclusion in this directory does not necessarily imply APLB endorsement.

Meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of each month, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Glen Erin Community Police Station, Glen Erin Commons Plaza, 3476 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5L 3R4. There is no charge or required donation. An optional membership of $25 per year includes newsletters, the ability to borrow from our resource library free of charge, and our specially created resource list.

We provide compassionate and professional support during your time of loss. Services include pre-euthanasia support, telephone and email support, support groups offered twice monthly, pamphlets, newsletters and an in-house library. Services are provided by a trained and registered social worker, who has worked in the area of pet loss bereavement for over four years after her animal companion Montey died. All services are offered at no charge, with the exception of long-term counselling.
