Bridging the Gap

When a beloved animal becomes seriously ill, enters hospice care, or approaches the end of life, families and veterinary teams often find themselves navigating one of the most emotionally complex stages of the human–animal bond.

My work focuses on supporting people and veterinary professionals during those transitions by providing guidance, presence, and structured support around serious illness, aging, end-of-life care, and grief.

As an Integrated Transition Practitioner and Animal & Veterinary Chaplain, I work with both pet caregivers and veterinary teams to help carry some of the emotional weight that accompanies these moments.

For pet caregivers, I provide support during the palliative and end-of-life stages of an animal’s life, helping families navigate difficult decisions, prepare for euthanasia when that time comes, and process the grief that follows the loss of a companion animal.

My work draws on my training as an Animal Death Doula, Certified Hospice & Palliative Care Advocate (IAAHPC), and Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Professional (CAETA).

For veterinary professionals, I offer support that complements clinical care by helping hold space for clients navigating loss while also acknowledging the cumulative emotional demands veterinary teams carry in their work.

As an ordained Animal & Veterinary Chaplain, I also provide resources and conversations focused on compassion fatigue, moral injury, grief literacy, and emotional resilience within veterinary settings.

My work is grounded in the understanding that caring for animals often means caring for the people who love them. During the final stage of life, both families and veterinary professionals benefit from having additional layers of support that extend beyond clinical medicine.

I also serve on the Board of the American Association of Veterinary Chaplains (AAVChap) and maintain active involvement with organizations focused on end-of-life care and the human–animal bond.

I created a guided pet loss journal and a guided journal for the veterinary community. They are available on Amazon

I have authored three children’s books that gently advocate for animals and celebrate our relationships with them.
