Grief is a natural response to losing a loved one whether the loss is a human or non-human animal. So often, people who are suffering from the loss of their animal family members feel isolated, marginalized, invalidated, alone, and traumatized.  Their deep grief is frequently met with insincere condolences, flippant remarks, and rolls of the eyes.  “It’s only an animal,” is the oft-heard response to these mourners and that is usually followed by, “just get another one.” Animal bereavement therapy offers a safe and supportive space to express your emotions and process your grief, without judgement, and with empathy, during this difficult time.  It’s so important to openly share your feelings and experiences with people who truly understand and respect your feelings so you can move through the  grieving process a little more easily.
