The first walk she was able to take at full strength, she dragged me across three yards after a cat. I had to use a small fence post to stop her after being covered in mud face down. She stood proudly in her spot, tongue hanging out and wagging that bushy tail of hers. Always a diva and always the center of attention.

Bio

Belle was a december puppy. She was born into a home that no longer wanted puppies or dogs in general. She and her brother Malakai were found locked in an abadoned home closet. They were about to be turned into animal control when my family and I stepped in to take care of them. Malakai was too far gone to help but we managed to save Belle. She was roughly a year old when we took her in.

As we watched this poor pup recover and grow stronger, she came out of her shy personality. I knew she was going to be a handful after awhile. She started playing and running, just being a dog again. She loved our German Shepherd/Rottweiler mixed named Bear. The two of them adored one another.

Sadly when she turned fifteen she developed a tumor in the back of her throat and on her jaw. The vet didn’t recommend surgery due to her age and the chances of success. She stopped eating/drinking and no longer had that pep in her step. We could all see her hurting. She passed gently with family in the vets office.
