I have strong memories of Jean Claude waking me up to feed him in the early morning. Sometimes I’d wake up to his paw patting me and his adorable face with thoughtful eyes staring down at me.  I also remember feeling a sharp small object hitting my head. It was Jean Claude giving me little love bites to wake me up. And sometimes Jean Claude would make loud mournful meows to wake me up to feed him.

Another memory and source of joy for me was his purr. Different things made him purr and when he purred, I knew he was happy. Sometimes when I caressed him or groomed him, he would start purring.  Also, when smelling his food, he could start purring. His purr was like music.

Bio

I first saw Jean Claude on Facebook back in 2013. A woman who worked for a rescue group had posted his photo on Facebook, with a very appealing bio.  I fell in love with him right away and wrote her that I’d like to meet him and I was interested in adopting him.  I can still remember that he sniffed my hand and then, kissed it. He was a very sweet and charming cat.

In the beginning he was upset about leaving his foster home.  But it didn’t take him long to get comfortable in my apartment, where he was the cat in charge.  He loved gazing out the window, chasing and catching bugs that wandered into the apartment, napping in sunny spots, eating, and listening to and participating in my conversations on the phone and in zoom meetings. He would often meow at me when I was on the phone or on a zoom meeting, letting me know that he wanted to be included in the conversation. He loved life, loved his home and loved me. I miss him terribly. Life isn’t the same without my vivacious, handsome, expressive Jean Claude.
