Bio
Misty was adopted with Harris Teeter on 12 JAN 2017.
She was a dainty 7-pound, 6-year old dilute black cat (according to her DNA report) who was initially coy, but was extremely affectionate and doted on her owners whom she bonded with.
She had a very loud purr, greeted her owners at the door when they arrived home, demanded her pets from her owners, drank from the bathroom faucet, loved to knead her owners, and “fed” her owners by bringing them her toy mice.
She was a very gentle playmate. You could let her chase after your fingers but she would only swat with her claws retracted.
When she heard her owners having a conversation in the kitchen, she would come in to join the conversation (and demand some pets) adding thoughtful meows at just the right points in the discussion. When we ate dinner at the dining room table, she’d come out to join us, see if we were amenable to giving her a taste, and then rub against our legs and dart between our feet.
Little Mist had obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy her entire life, but managed to live with us for an active, joyful 9 years due to an amazing cardiology team. She lived to be a 15-y/o senior cat, exceeding the norm. In fact, it wasn’t the heart disease that got her, but a very difficult to detect liver cancer that took our sweet girl suddenly and far too soon.
She passed like she lived. She died at home in a spot that she chose via euthanasia; we were saddened but heartened as she purred loudly and received pets from us during her final moments.
We loved her and we know she loved us. We hope she had as much of as happy life with us as we did with her during the too-short 9 years we were blessed to have her.
Our house and our souls feel so empty without her. We are bereft.
We love you forever Misty Kitty.
