Every memory I have with my Misty is a treasured one. I love how she would always need a pillow and soft blanket in order to sleep. I loved how she would give hugs and wrap her head around my neck and her gentle kisses on my chin. I remember we took her to PetSmart the day we adopted her so she could pick out a toy, She picked a large plush dog which is now safely on display in my room. I always loved whenever she would “roo” during play time because she was so happy and excited.

Bio

Misty was born deaf, due to her deafness her original owners surrendered her to a rescue called Southwest English Setter. Misty stayed in a wonderful foster home until we adopted her. Misty was extremely smart, we taught her sign commands which she picked up quickly because her focus was constantly on you. Misty was a velcro pup constantly wanted to be near me or join us in whatever we were doing. When we first picked up Misty she was only three-months-old. She was slowly introduced to her other family members and got along well with them. She enjoyed a good play session in her large fenced in backyard with me. Early on Misty did have some health issues, she suffered with seizures and extreme separation anxiety, then at 8 years old Misty was diagnosed with PLE (Protein-losing enteropathy) which is a severe, often fatal syndrome. She lost a significant amount of weight she started to develop pressure sores. The emergency vet told us that she wasn’t going to make it, but I said no, I knew my Misty better than most, she was not ready to go then. So with a lot of TLC Misty recovered. She stayed healthy until her 12 year when she developed a cardiac condition, but I kept her healthy unitl she celebrated her 13th birthday on February 1st 2026. Misty seemed to be getting to the end of her journey, but she decided to stay until my bithday and she passed over the rainbow bridge on the evening of the 28th after I opened up my gifts. Misty gave me one last gift, she passed peacefully on her own with me by her side.

Epitaph

To my dearest Misty,

When I was thirteen, I met my whole universe in you, when you were just a three-month-old puppy. They say you were born deaf, but you heard my heart better than anyone else ever could. Thank you for staying so strong. Thank you for giving us that extra time, for the sunbathing sessions on the porch with Pippi and mama, and for the slow strolls we took every sunset during good weather. Most of all, thank you for all the unconditional love you gave me. The day I entered the world was the day you first crossed the Rainbow Bridge making us forever bookended by the same date. A rare six planet alignment happened above us that night and I like to think that the universe rolled out a red carpet of stars just to welcome its brightest star home. You will never just be a memory, you will always be a part of my soul. Rest easy, my brave girl. I will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Love forever, Your Anna.
