One of my favorite memories of Scooter is watching her race around the yard with Lucy when Lucy was still a puppy. Scooter was incredibly fast and could run circles around almost anyone. Even as the older dog, she seemed to come alive when she was playing, darting across the grass with joy and energy.
Scooter, lovingly known as “Scoot Scoot,” was a miniature Rat Terrier rescue who joined our family around 2003 or 2004 after a chance visit to a rescue event. Though we never knew her exact age, we were blessed to share more than a decade of love, laughter, and companionship before saying goodbye.
Scooter was smart, loving, and incredibly fast. She had a playful spirit and a heart full of kindness. One of her most endearing habits was hopping up and down on her hind legs whenever she wanted a treat. With her front paws pressed together as if she were praying, she could melt anyone’s heart in an instant.
More than anything, Scooter was a caretaker. She watched over everyone around her with quiet devotion and seemed happiest when making sure her family was safe. Whether she was curled up beside someone she loved, keeping watch over the house, or snuggled in front of a warm fireplace, Scooter brought comfort wherever she went.
She lived with us in both Nashville and Florida and was a beloved part of our family through many chapters of life. Though years have passed since we said goodbye, her gentle spirit, loving nature, and unforgettable little hops remain treasured memories.
Scooter will always be remembered, always be loved, and never be forgotten.
