At House Call Vet RVA, we understand the importance and value of the Human-Animal bond. Our mission is to preserve and enrich the bond between you and your pet. About Us:

In starting House Call Vet RVA in 2019, Dr. Hemsley had worked as an associate veterinarian in general practice and at various emergency clinics. In 2016, Dr. Hemsley became certified in veterinary acupuncture and many of he patients were older and/or had chronic illnesses. More and more clients would politely ask if Dr. Hemsley could come to their house to care for their older pet as getting in the car, the travel itself had become more challenging as distressful for their beloved pet.

It only took a few house calls before Dr. Hemsley was hooked and started planning House Call Vet RVA. The leather bag she brings with her to each visit is a symbol and a reminder of her goals and values for the practice. Like many practitioners in the 1800s and early 1900s, Dr. Hemsley knows that importance of consistency, reliability and providing comprehensive care. It is not uncommon for Dr. Hemsley to check on a patient “after hours”, whether it’s a phone call or going to perform an exam for one of her patients.

Dr. Hemsley also works as a relief veterinarian on her “days off” from House Calls. Over the past few years there has been an increasing need for emergency clinicians. Wanting to help, Dr. Hemsley worked the overnight shifts when her House Call schedule would allow and make sure her clients with hospice pets knew how to get a hold of her (day or night!).

In her spare time, Dr. Hemsley enjoys gardening, painting, spending time with family and friends. She has two dogs, Kevin & Mork, and two cats, Laird & Elmo.
