Shadow was tiny and determined. She wanted a mumma, having been taken from her pure-bred mother too early by a breeder. She followed her slightly older sister, Mischief, everywhere and was not deterred by her hissing or swatting. She soon won over Mischief (Missy) who let her dry-suckle (noisily) as much as she wanted. She ‘shadowed’ Missy everywhere, even onto my lap on the toilet! I ended up with 2 large cats on my small lap. Hence her name. They loved each other so much. Missy, unfortunately, passed away in 2006.

Epitaph

Always by my side. My best friend and companion for 18 years. Shadow gave me such an amazing love, a devoted love. I hope I lived up to this because I loved her crazy. She accepted her 2 brothers into our home with her Princess status already in play. They quickly learned who was boss. Our private time together was … pure love.
